01/05/2005Airlan's regional wireless.
Jindabyne, Australia – May 1, 2005 – Residents, businesses and visitors in the Snowy Mountains region are now getting High Speed Wireless Broadband services previously only enjoyed in cities and metropolitan areas. Airlan is a wholly Australian owned, based and operated in Jindabyne, and has been rolling out its own carrier grade High Speed Wireless Broadband Services in the past six months.

“Airlan is able to offer the regions most competitive high speed wireless broadband services because we have complete autonomy with our own telecommunications network and are not limited to the copper network like other broadband providers. Airlan has engineered, built and now operates its own independent network using carrier-grade high-speed wireless equipment for the last mile and all its backhaul requirements. This enables Airlan to offer a unique broadband service to both consumers and businesses, with complete control over speed, service and price. This also means that Airlan’s wireless broadband is available in many ‘broadband black holes’ where ADSL and cable services are not or are too expensive. Being wireless also means you don’t need a telephone line!” said Mr Gregorian CEO of Airlan.

“The wireless system currently offers speeds of up to 256Kbps/64Kbps and with carrier-grade reliability (>99.99% uptime) and it’s coping extremely well. In coming months Airlan will be offering speeds of up to 1.5Mbps/256Kbps. We are also gearing up to provide even higher speeds for business. As the regions bandwidth needs grow and as businesses grows, we can upgrade our infrastructure to services our customers needs.” said Mr Gregorian.

In addition to its local residential and business customers Airlan will be selling prepaid cards to visitors and anyone preferring to use them. Utilising the prepaid card system Airlan is also offering a package to rental property owners. If you’re in the hotel, motel, lodge business or have one or more holiday rental properties, how are you going to attract more bookings? In the ’60s, it was put a sign out front that says ‘Air conditioning’. In the ’70s, it was cable. In the ’90s, it was Satellite TV. Now it will be Wi-Fi (Wireless Broadband Internet)

Mr Gregorian also said “Airlan is utilising standard (802.11 b,g,a) wireless technologies which means the wireless equipment in your pc or laptop is compatible.”

“We also offer better access, being wireless, Airlan can go in and supply fast, cost effective and reliable broadband service within 24 hours.” Airlan has been rapidly expanding its network across the Snowy Mountains region and will be expanding its services to cover the Cooma/Monaro region in coming months and then expanding to the coast to Bega, Eden and surrounding regional areas in the next 12 - 24 months.” Gregorian said.

“Whether you just want to browse the Internet or you’re a demanding power user who wants to experience the latest technologies such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and VOD (Video on Demand) you need a cost effective, reliable and fast broadband service. At Airlan, that’s what we intend to deliver,” he said.

Starting with its Basic Starter Plan (256Kbps download and 64Kbps upload) for just $15.95 per Month means Airlan’s customers can now fly on the Internet at costs less then most ADSL services offered by other providers with no more telephone wires! Airlan also offers wireless broadband packages to suit every home user, including users that only require access to send and retrieve only emails, this starter service is priced from $5.95 per month.
