With the completion of spillway gates on the Jindabyne Dam Wall project Airlan has completed its project of providing remote wireless internet access for HydroPlus and McDonald Keen Group, the two companies responsible for building and project managment.

Jindabyne, Australia – May 1, 2005 – Residents, businesses and visitors in the Snowy Mountains region are now getting High Speed Wireless Broadband services previously only enjoyed in cities and metropolitan areas. Airlan is a wholly Australian owned, based and operated in Jindabyne, and has been rolling out its own carrier grade High Speed Wireless Broadband Services in the past six months.
“Airlan is able to offer the regions most competitive high speed wireless broadband services because we have complete autonomy with our own telecommunications network and are not limited to the copper network like other broadband providers. Airlan has engineered, built and now operates its own independent network using carrier-grade high-speed wireless equipment for the last mile and all its backhaul requirements. In addition to its local residential and business customers Airlan will be selling prepaid cards to visitors and anyone preferring to use them. Utilising the prepaid card system Airlan is also offering a package to rental property owners. If you’re in the hotel, motel, lodge business or have one or more holiday rental properties, how are you going to attract more bookings? In the ’60s, it was put a sign out front that says ‘Air conditioning’. In the ’70s, it was cable. In the ’90s, it was Satellite TV. Now it will be Wi-Fi (Wireless Broadband Internet)
Mr Gregorian also said “Airlan is utilising standard (802.11 b,g,a) wireless technologies which means the wireless equipment in your pc or laptop is compatible.”
“We also offer better access, being wireless, Airlan can go in and supply fast, cost effective and reliable broadband service within 24 hours.” Airlan has been rapidly expanding its network across the Snowy Mountains region and will be expanding its services to cover the Cooma/Monaro region in coming months and then expanding to the coast to Bega, Eden and surrounding regional areas in the next 12 - 24 months.” Gregorian said.
